My Story
My own treatment with acupuncture for Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI) provides me with a unique patient’s perspective of how acupuncture can help those with pain, stress, and brain injuries. The neurosurgeon who saved me from a life-threatening brain injury told me I would never work again. However, acupuncture proved the doctor wrong. Acupuncture treatments got me back on my feet and back to work as a computer aviation simulation software manager. But my curiosity about this ancient healing technique got the best of me and led me to New York City, where in 2014, I earned an M.S. in Acupuncture from the prestigious Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM). I have since earned acupuncture licenses in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey.
My training at PCOM included internships in two Manhattan hospitals, where I specialized in pain management and palliative care. I worked with women’s pain issues at New York University (NYU) Hospital’s Langone Center Initiative for Women with Disabilities, which provides acupuncture in support of traditional medical treatments for pain and emotional issues. At NYU, I often worked with patients with pain issues who were no longer responsive to opioids. I also interned at the Manhattan Veteran Administration (VA) Hospital Pain Clinic‘s dedicated acupuncture facility, treating the specialized needs of former military outpatients. The Manhattan VA pain clinic serves veterans with chronic pain issues who have had prior service in all the branches of the military from the Second World War all the way up to today’s veterans of conflicts and wars.
I am also a Certified Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist, trained by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). Besides my acupuncture practices, first in Yardley and now in Falls Township next to Morrisville, PA, before COVID, I was also a volunteer acupuncturist for a community clinic in Bristol, PA, run by Won Institute Acupuncture School, where we treated recovering addicts.
